Uniforms at workplaces

In the 21st century, uniforms have formed a critical part of business in most organizations. The logic behind this is that uniforms are helpful both in maintaining discipline and branding the business. Currently, most organizations accept all kinds of dressing mainly due to religious affiliations some of which demand women to dress in a certain way. This freedom has been the culture around most businesses but for the few that have tried uniforms, they have benefited greatly.

Uniforms establish in employees a sense of identity and discipline which make them mentally ready that they belong to some workplace. Thus they take their working environments seriously and behave well. This would specifically promote institutions with many employees who normally take part in manual jobs, since without the uniforms, the management unit would hardly recognize them and the positions they hold in the institution forcing them to request for job IDs before assigning them tasks. This also promotes the organization in terms of branding and equality.

On the other hand, it is obvious that uniforms still bear some disadvantages especially with regard to their ancient time barred styles which restricts peoples freedom of choice. Nevertheless, some of these ancient uniforms could still be helpful.

For example, cleaners in construction companies would be much safer at night when working wearing reflective jacket uniforms, for machine operators they could be able to notice them from a distance through the light reflected from their uniforms.

Uniforms might also inhibit religious beliefs such that some employees could choose being unemployed as opposed to being forced to dress in uniforms for them to work. Companies and businesses will also have to spend more purchasing uniforms for their employees annually. Uniforms are of monumental benefits to the management of businesses together with their employee safety. However, more trendy uniforms should be designed so as to meet the tastes of all people.
