According to the police, an 18-year-old mother was arrested on Tuesday after attempting to hire a hitman to kill her 3-year-old son. The incident came to light when she filled out a form on a parody hit-for-hire website, which was designed to prevent real solicitations for murder. The operator of the website received a service request to have the child killed, and immediately informed the police.

After verifying the credibility of the information, authorities conducted an investigation and arrested Jazmin Paez on Tuesday night. She has been charged with first-degree solicitation of murder and third-degree unlawful use of a communications device, as per court documents. Paez appeared in court on Wednesday and has obtained legal representation through the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office.

In the affidavit, it was revealed that Paez used a fake name to file the request on the fake website, and she asked for her child to be taken far away and possibly killed as soon as possible, setting Thursday as the deadline for the job’s completion.

Authorities tracked down Paez using the IP address and phone number obtained from the website, leading them to the grandmother’s residence, where the child was living at the time. The grandmother confirmed the identity of the intended victim through a picture submitted on the website and confirmed that the phone number belonged to her daughter, Paez.

Prior to Paez’s arrest, a detective engaged in a series of text messages with the provided phone number, posing as the hired hitman. The person behind the request confirmed the original request and agreed to pay $3,000 for the job.

During questioning at the Miami-Dade Police Department, Paez confessed to putting out the hit. She allegedly told the police that she was in a romantic relationship with someone who did not approve of her having a son and had broken up with her because of it. Paez believed that by hiring a hitman to kill her son, she could rekindle the relationship with the person.
