Chinese flight

On February 13 2020, Kenyan students trapped in Corona Virus stricken City of Wuhan China issued a rallying call to be evacuated. A few days later, the Kenyan ambassador to China Sara Serem, emotionally pleaded to pray for the Kenyans as she seemed clueless and defenseless on whether or not the Kenyan Government had any plans to evacuate them or at the very least worried about the lives of its citizens abroad.

The same week, Kenyans woke up to claims that a Chinese Citizen who works as a project manager with a Chinese company in Kenya had been sneaked into the country in the wee hours of the night, further arousing suspicion that perhaps the government was handling the Corona Virus matter too Casually. This was aggravated on Wednesday 26th Feb when a Chinese flight carrying 238 passengers was allowed to land in the country, with passengers advised to self-quarantine a matter that Professor Sam Ongeri a medical practitioner and Senator Kisii County has termed as defeating medical training logic.

With reports this morning of Coran Virus Cases being reported in Nigeria and Egypt, many Kenyans are worried that Kenya could be its next destination given the countries unpreparedness to mitigate against the disease.

There are reports going around that an airport employee who leaked pictures of the plane arriving in Kenya has since been suspended, a clear indication that perhaps China could be calling the shots in this and the Kenyan Government cannot do much in restricting Chinese flights. It should be known that Kenya is heavily indebted to Chinese loan facilities something that might further compromise its ability to say No to China.

A Kenyan Daily Newspaper today run a headline Enemies of the people, depicting the Cabinet Secretaries Fred Matiangi in charge of internal security, Sicily Kariuki in charge of Health, James Macharia and Ms Rachel Omamo, accusing them as being responsible for the countries exposure to the deadly Virus.

Kenya is a major trading block within the African and specifically the East African region. JKIA airport serves as a major connection point to overseas flights, with passengers from across the region going through the airport. If there were to be any Corona Virus infections in Kenya, this would not only threaten Kenya but the entire region as well.
