Uasin Gishu county is set to immensely benefit from the government of Israel through collaborative projects.

Speaking on Tuesday, November 8, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii said a two-day visit by Israeli Ambassador to Kenya Michael Lotem had laid ground for many great things ahead.

Lotem visited the agriculture rich country from Monday, November 7, on a two-day tour and held talks aimed at initiating projects that would transform the county economically.

“The two day visit has had a positive impact. It should be remembered that Israel is a start up nation in technology and agriculture and the best partner we could have in a region where we are prioritising agricultural investments,” said Bii alias Koti Moja.

He was categorical that Health Agriculture, Water and Housing sectors were set to benefit from Israel’s support to Uasin Gishu.

“Israel has agreed to mobilise investors who will set up various projects and shall be a boost to our county’s economic growth even as we seek to be conferred to be the fifth city,” he added.

Bii disclosed Elsmed, a Hospital based in Israel had agreed to set up projects in Uasin Gishu through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

“The programmess shall mainly be on Telemedicine and Informatics as well as digitisation of inventory management and provision of diagnostic equipment which will be a boost to our health sector at a cost of about KSh 437 million,” said Bii.

On agriculture, the governor noted that the Israeli government had committed to train farmers from all the wards in the county on best dairy and horticultural practises so as to enable them boost their production and add value to their yields.

Lotem was pleased by Uasin Gishu leadership’s openness and willingness to work with Israeli partners to improve livelihoods of the locals and said, their partnership anchored on good relations would be mutually benefit the county and Israel.
