Airtel partners AWS

Major Indian telecoms service provider has announced a strategic partnership with cloud services provider Amazon Web Services in delivering cloud solutions to its customers across India. The partnership will mainly feature Airtel Cloud features, the telecommunications company multi-cloud products and business solutions. Airtel Cloud will base on AWS cloud to come up with Airtel cloud products and services taking advantage of AWS services.

Artel cloud will now provide its customers a number of AWS cloud services as part of the partnership which takes advantage of AWS innovations and transformations services across analytics, internet of things, data warehousing and machine learning to assist its customers adopt new services so as to migrate to the cloud from legacy infrastructures.

As part of cloud adoption strategies, companies are going for agility, streamlined migration from legacy systems and are looking to collaborate with trusted partners who have the technology, experience and depth in achieving this. The partnership brings AWS globes leading cloud platform together with Airtel’s deep reach and impeccable expertise in dealing with data centers, network, security and cloud as an integrated solution.

The partnership brings a new business model to the market where hyperscale cloud providers are seeking strategic markets in order to push their products as well as gain market share. Airtel has a similar partnership with Google Cloud signed in august of 2019 and the Microsoft partnership with reliance Jio.

The Indian market has witnessed growth over the past year as shown by Asia Cloud Computing Association. It would be interesting to see how the market receives this partnership and whether or not this will end up to bear fruits to both parties. The same could be applied to other markets where telecommunications companies dominate markets with significantly larger customer base.
