Clergyman Arrested for Allegedly Defrauding ACK Mwea Town Church of Ksh.2 Million Meant for Seat Purchase

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has reported the arrest of Gilbert Kariuki, who is accused of swindling ACK Mwea Town Church out of Ksh.2 million. The funds were intended for the purchase of 410 seats.

According to the DCI statement, Kariuki and his spouse were contracted by the church leadership on February 9, 2013, to deliver the seats. However, they failed to fulfill the agreement and disappeared.

“The church leadership engaged Apostle Blessed Gilbert Kariuki and his spouse to supply 410 seats to the church by April 10, 2023, but the ‘Man of God’ neither delivered the seats nor showed up,” stated the report.

The church members’ attempts to locate the preacher proved unsuccessful, leading the church vicar to report the matter to the police.

Following a successful operation by the police, Kariuki was apprehended and subsequently appeared in Wanguru law courts. He is facing charges of obtaining money under false pretenses.
